How do I upload a picture to my ad?

On the Ad Submission page you should see a section called "Upload Photos/Video" (below your contact information) where you can attach up to 5 pictures to your ad. Click on Photos, then Add Photos, and locate the picture you would like to upload on your computer. You may choose up to 5 photos at once by holding CTRL (Control) or SHIFT and clicking each one. Click Open and then Upload. Your files will upload and a green bar will show their progress. A Photo will be rejected from the site if it is not a JPG, attempts to offer more than one product or service, its content is not exclusively associated with the content of the ad without our prior, expressed written consent, displays or contains email addresses, web (URL) links or embedded code, violates our general Terms of Use policy, or is produced for use on radio, television, newsprint or any other advertising media and does not have our prior, expressed written consent. Why does my ad say " Pending Approval "?

Free ads are staff-approved, Mon-Fri/7-7pm, in the order received. Any free ad submitted or edited after that time will be reviewed on the next business day before 5pm. Why wait for approval? Get your ad posted instantly for as little as $7.00 per month. If your ad just can't wait, this is your best option! Just like Free Ads, Priority Ads remain posted for 30 days and can be edited or replaced with a new ad anytime you wish!

Why can't I log out?

Southeasttexas.com requires the use of cookies. This is a small harmless file that is placed on your computer that identifies you as you move through the site. When you log off this cookie is removed. In some cases it becomes hung up, and you will need to go into your browser's settings and clear/delete your cookies. This should solve your problem.

I forgot my password. How do I retrieve it?

On our homepage, below the Login & Account Info, click on "Forgot Your Password?" This will take you to the password retrieval page. You can either type in you email address and have you password emailed to you or have the system give you the password hint that you entered when you created your account.

Scam Alert

FBI Internet Scam/Fraud Center Online 06/25/05 Foreign scam warnings are posted on SoutheastTexas.com prior to anyone being allowed to post an ad. These scams involving fake cashier's checks and money orders are not new. Both the FBI - Beaumont and Secret Service - Houston are very aware of these scams. If you receive an email offering to pay you more than your asking price, the payment is by cashier's check or money order and you are asked to send the overage amount to a shipping or collection agent, this IS a scam. You are advised to ignore and delete such emails. The only way we'll beat them is by ignoring them. Most of these originate out of Nigeria, regardless of what country the con artist claims to call home. The problem is, the Nigerian government will not cooperate with the U.S. government. Archived Ads

You can resubmit an ad that you have posted previously by clicking on the Archived Ads link. Links for the archived ads appear in My Account under each section's link to Edit/Delete Ad labeled as Archived Ads. Any ads that you have posted in the last 90 days are now available to post again. You can make a choice to run your ad as a free ad or as a paid ad. These options will be available to you when you click on Resubmit Ad

How do I post an ad on SoutheastTexas.com?

You will need to have an account with us, and be logged in to the site. You will click on the tab at the top of the page that pertains to your particular ad and choose to Submit Ad and follow the steps. Each user is allowed one account to post ads on. Anyone creating multiple accounts to post free ads on will be disapproved and/or their account will be suspended. This applies to both individuals and businesses. Free ads are staff-approved, Mon-Fri/8-5pm, in the order received. Any free ad submitted or edited after that time will be reviewed on the next business day before 5pm. Why wait for approval? Get your ad posted instantly for as little as $7.00 per month. If your ad just can't wait, this is your best option!

If you need to post more than one item or service, or you need to take advantage of more than one category, you will need to click on Buy Ads, located on your My Account Home page just below Edit Profile. Pre-paid ads will post instantly to the site, and the more you purchase, the greater the savings!

Ad location

You will click on the tab at the top of the page in which you selected to post your ad. If in Classifieds, you will search either the Goods or Services and choose the category to locate your ad. If in Automobiles or Real Estate you will do a search to locate your ad.

Ad extension

For free or expired ads needing to post for more than 30 days you will need to either delete the currently posted ad and resubmit a new ad to run for 30 more days. For paid ads you will need to be logged in to your account, on the left hand side of the screen under the yellow bar that says My Account, you will click on Renew Ads if it is before the ad(s) expire. If ad(s) have already expired you will need to click on Buy Ads.

Phone Number Rejection

When creating an account and your phone number is being rejected by the system, either the phone number is associated with other accounts or you are not filling in the home number field which is a required. If you only have a cell number please also enter that number in the home number field.

Mozilla Firefox (8.0)

  1. Select Tools from the top menu.
  2. Choose Options.
  3. Choose Content from the top navigation.
  4. Select the checkbox next to Enable JavaScript and click OK.

Internet Explorer (9.0)

  1. Select Tools from the top menu.
  2. Choose Internet Options.
  3. Click on the Security tab.
  4. Click on Custom Level.
  5. Scroll down until you see the section labeled 'Scripting.'
  6. Under 'Active Scripting,' select Enable and click OK.

Apple Safari (5.0)

  1. Open the Safari menu on your browser's toolbar.
  2. Choose Preferences.
  3. Choose Security.
  4. Select the checkbox next to Enable JavaScript.

Please keep in mind that upgrading your browser or installing new security software or security patches may affect your JavaScript settings. It is a good idea to double-check that JavaScript is still enabled if you notice problems. Additionally, if your JavaScript setting is set to 'Prompt', you may encounter a warning about downloading potentially dangerous scripts from a website.

How do I upload a video to my ad?

You must first purchase the option to add a video to your ad. Then, on the Ad Submission page you should see a section called "Upload Photos/Video" (below your contact information) where you can attach a video to your ad. Click on Video, Upload Video, then Browse and locate the video you would like to upload, and click Open. Your file will upload, and you will then click Continue to submit your ad. A video will be rejected from the site if it attempts to offer more than one product or service, includes content not exclusively associated with the content of the ad without our prior, expressed written consent, displays or contains email addresses, web (URL) links or embedded code, violates our general Terms of Use policy, is produced for use on radio, television, newsprint or any other advertising media and does not have our prior, expressed written consent, or contains music tracks or snippets from copyrighted material. Photo Uploads from mobile devices

Users can now upload photos and videos from a hand-held device. If you have an iPhone 3GS or newer, iPod Touch 4th Generation or newer and iPad2 or newer you can upgrade and upload photos and videos. Unfortunately, all older Apple users are out of luck. Android devices allow file uploads as well. You will need to update your iOS. Go to "Settings" then "General" go to "Software Update" "Install Now" Agree to the Terms and Conditions and you are done. Note that you will need iOS 5 or above and a Wi-Fi connection in order for this process to work. If not, you will have to connect your device to your computer and launch i Tunes in order to update.
